Some thoughts on the contest.

Post by Lady_Wulf on Sat Aug 21, 2010 7:42 am

It's a nice idea, having a contest with a crown prize for your grand opening, and I'm sure you'll gain a ridiculous number of members as soon as word gets out, however... you may want to consider a minimum post requirement for entering contests hosted on the site, so as to weed out all the people who don't wish to put in any further effort than the single post required of them, never to post on the forums again. Just a suggestion. =)

*Shrugs*
I think 15 sounds like a good number, personally, but I've never held a competition of this sort, so yeah. =P

I'm not sure if the rules can change once the entry period starts. People would complain that they didn't know.
I like the idea though.

Well at the moment I don't think spam posts would be hard to monitor, what with the small amount of members, but yeah, if the situation occured where there were a lot of people, it'd be hard to come up with enough people to promote to moderator status so early in the forums life.

As for not being able to change it after the fact, I made the post before any entries were made, so it might have been possible to sneak the change in. =P

We are considering something like this, but trying to avoid most changes for now. But as the conditions do state:

"10. Sacktastic™ reserves the right to edit, modify, change, delete, or add to the official terms and conditions for any reason at any time. If done so for any reason, users will be notified through the site, or any other method chosen."

True, true. I forgot about that. It is a good idea but ultimately it is your site & contest so the decision is yours. Very Happy

Indeed. I only suggested it because another LBP site I frequent is absolutely flooded with people who've made only one post, and it isn't a pretty thing to see. =P

I agree with Ms. Wulf there. However, as this site is still in infant stages, I don't think that a post minimum would be a good idea. People need time to be able to build up thier post counts.

That's true I suppose, but everyone who's been at all active around here already has 15 or more posts, or are close to it.

Another Thought

Post by Strangepom on Tue Aug 31, 2010 10:42 pm

Has Alex listed the criteria under which these levels are judged?

What I mean to say is... are there bonus points for difficulty/attention to detail/comedy etc etc?

Please Alex can you alter the rules slightly? I Have another level I created overnight and would like to submit but the rules state one entry per person . No

That would take too long to judge. That's why the rule is in place.

Strangepom, if it comes down to it:
Publish both and see which one gets the most positive feedback / is more likely to win.
Then republish the non-entry one so it doesn't have PttS in the title.

Otherwise I have an idea for a second entry...

In the end, the Sacktastic™️ Team along with maybe a few special guest judges will play all the levels entered into the contest and after some various discussing and debating, will choose one winner who they feel made the best LittleBigPlanet 2 Level Replica in LittleBigPlanet 1 based off accuracy, quality, originality (in the work-around bits), and fun.

As for having two entires, I like Jedi's idea. Publish your other entry without the Sacktastic title. If it gets better feedback or you decide to go with that one instead, re-publish your original entry without the Sacktastic title and re-publish your new one with the Sacktastic title. Make sure to do this all before the deadline as well Wink
