We can talk about the BETA now!
Tom_Molecule has announced that those in the BETA can now talk about it so...

Yes...tell.me.your.secrets Mwahaha. Ok well since by now, I have (yes already) been informed about all the major specific stuff I wanted to know, I just have a few general questions: Was it everything you had hoped it to be? Any take-aways from the first game? Were you disappointed what-so-ever? In fact, just any complaints in general? It looks spectacular. I hope to get in once the USA Beta comes around...

The lighting changes, while more realistic, have completely changed most LBP1 levels. They are too dark now. But they are probably working on that.

I heard that thin gas is now visible in LBP1 levels ported into LBP2, is there an invisible non-layer change tool we can use instead?
Also I gather the thermo cheat doesn't work anymore and the thermo is a little less friendly (re-calculated) is this correct?

Thin Gas is visible but I think they'll fix that.
Holographic materials can have their brightness set to 0% and are completely invisible in play mode. But this material allows anything to pass through it so hopefully they will sort out the thin gas.
The thermo seems to be a little more forgiving. And there is a seperate blue thermo for music sequencers.
